Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run your account and improve the tools:
- Account details — your name, email, mobile number and (if you register with a password) a securely hashed password.
- Usage data — which tools you use, timestamps, and basic device/browser info, so we can keep tools working and spot abuse.
- Approximate location — derived from your IP address (and, only if you allow it, your browser's location) for analytics and security.
- Messages you send — feedback, support tickets, ratings and tip messages you choose to submit.
Google Sign-In (Gmail login)
You can create an account or log in using your Google account. When you choose “Continue with Google”, Google asks for your permission and then shares a limited set of profile information with us:
What Google shares with us
Only the basics — nothing more.If your Google email matches an existing Assam Converter account, we link them so you keep your history. Otherwise we create a new free account for you automatically. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To save your tool history, favourites and preferences.
- To send important account emails (sign-up, password resets, account changes).
- To understand which tools are popular and improve them.
- To detect, prevent and investigate abuse, fraud or security issues.
Your files stay yours
Most of our converters and tools process your files directly in your browser — they never leave your device. For the few tools that must process on the server, files are used only to produce your result and are deleted automatically shortly afterwards. We never open, store long-term, or share the contents of your files.
Cookies & local storage
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage to keep you logged in, remember your theme and preferences, and measure basic usage. We don't use them to track you across other websites.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information when it's necessary to run the service — for example, our email provider to deliver account emails, or when required by law. Trusted providers may process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality.
Security
Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing, connections are encrypted over HTTPS, and admin access is protected and logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your data and act quickly if anything goes wrong.
Your rights & choices
- Access & update — view and edit your profile from your account page.
- Delete your account — request deletion from the Help section; we remove your data after verifying it's you.
- Revoke Google access — disconnect Assam Converter anytime in your Google Account settings.
- Email preferences — we only email you about your account and the things you ask for.
